Nagaowa to see action in World Kickboxing League

TWO years since she last saw action inside the ring, Jujeath Nagaowa is returning to the cage again.

Nagaowa was recently called up by Miami, Florida based World Kickboxing League in their upcoming event on June 10 slated at the Hainan Ding’an Sports Stadium in China.

The 31-year-old former boxing champion is set to square off against Thailand’s Kannika Bangnara for the World Mixed Martial Arts League minimumweight world title showdown.

Nagaowa will try to extend her three fight winning streak in MMA since debuting in 2014 defeating Jeet Toshi and Taroth Sam in One Championship then edged Yuko Kiryu in her World Series of Fighting appearance in 2016.

Before venturing as an MMA fighter, Nagaowa who trains at the Highland Boxing Gym, started her pro boxing career at 18 when she debuted and won against Chona Chokowen in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte.

Her big break in boxing came in May 2010 when she fought but lost to Samson Tor Buama for the vacant WIBA world minimum weight belt.

But on June 6, 2015, Nagaowa finally won the vacant WIBA International light flyweight title against Yu Jie Luo via a unanimous decision at the Forum de Macao in Macao, China.

Her last three bouts in boxing however was unfruitful as Nagaowa yielded to Nao Ikeyama, Su Yun Hong for the Women’s International Boxing Association world light flyweight title and Eun Hye Lee.
