Officers get awards for keeping May 14 polls safe, peaceful

SIXTEEEN officers from the police, military and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) were awarded yesterday morning for their contributions in making the recent barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections safe and peaceful.

Eight were police officers from the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7—Senior Supt. Renato Dugan, Supt. Randy Korret, Chief Insp. Wilbert Parilla, Senior Insp. Welther Grapa, Senior Insp. Gilfred Baroman, Senior Insp. Adrian Nalua, SPO3 Ariel Perez and PO3 Brian Berenguer.

PRO 7 Director Robert Quenery pinned on them the Medalya ng Papuri, the Philippine National Police’s commendation medal.

BFP 7 Director Samuel Tadeo, Brigadier Eliezer Losañes, Colonel Ramon Evan Ruiz, Commodore Loumer Bernabe, Colonel Malaya Francisco, Colonel Moel Baluyan and Maritoni Corominas received certificates of appreciation.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) 7 Director Veronico Petalcorin attributed the success of the May 14 elections to the constant planning by the government agencies.

“Planning is very vital in every aspect,” he said in his speech.

Petalcorin was the guest speaker during the PRO 7’s flag raising ceremony yesterday. (KAL)
