Shootout mars drug bust in Rock Quarry

FOUR suspected drug pushers tried to evade arrest after shooting members of the Drug Enforcement Unit, Civilian Intelligence Unit and Baguio City Police Office Station 5 during an afternoon raid in Lower Rock Quarry.

Collared during the drug bust were Michael Dumagcao, 41, of Loakan-Magsaysay; Alberto England, 28, of Lourdes Subdivision Extension; John Michael Garcia, 30, of Mirador-Dominican; and Louie Clemente, 25, of Lower Rock Quarry.

Police said the suspects fired at the raiding team to evade arrest then tried to maneuver their vehicle but was blocked by other vehicles of the raiding team during the operation on Monday, May 28.

Seized from the suspects were two heat-sealed sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected to be “shabu,” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) one cal. 9mm with defaced serial number, one magazine for cal. 9mm, eight ammunitions for cal. 9mm, three empty shells for cal. 9mm, one fired bullet, two cellular phone and a silvery-grey SUV used by the suspects in the transaction.

All seized pieces of evidence were submitted to the Baguio City Police Office Crime Laboratory Office for qualitative and quantitative examination.

The suspects are now detained at Station 5, Baguio City Police Office for proper booking and documentation.

Police Regional Office–Cordillera regional director Chie Superintendent Edward Carranza lauded the Baguio cops and said the incident should serve as a warning to all those who are involved in the illegal drug trade to totally stop their illegal activities because the long arms of the law will not stop going after them.
