Probe on Animal Hub has not yet started

NEGROS Occidental Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson revealed yesterday, May 30, that the investigation into the controversial Negros First Animal Hub has not started yet.

Lacson said he learned it from Lawyer Mary Ann Lamis of the Provincial Legal Office, who heads the Investigating Panel formed by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to look into the construction of the animal hub at the Panaad Park without documents from the provincial Capitol.

Provincial officials have been denying any knowledge of the construction of the building which is already about 80 percent complete.

"We talked to Lamis last week and she gave the same answer which she gave to the media. She said that they cannot start the investigation unless the governor issues a certain action," Lacson said.

Lamis has not revealed the action they are waiting from the governor. She only assured the public that there will be no whitewash on the investigation and that the governor wants a speedy action on the matter.

The controversy on the construction of the Animal Hub has been discovered in April 2018.

Lacson said that the legislative body is also concerned about the matter that is why he asked Lamis about the investigation.

The provincial government has allocated P10 million for the construction of the Animal Hub but it has already been disregarded after the controversy came out.

Lacson said that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan may conduct its own investigation into the matter if they will not be contended of the investigation conducted by the executive branch.
