BFP inspects school buildings, dormitories

THE Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Bacolod has started to inspect the fire safety compliance of school buildings, boarding houses, and dormitories in the city.

Twenty public schools and more than 70 private schools were already checked in preparation for the opening of classes this month.

A total of 114 boarding houses and dormitories were also inspected and have complied with the fire safety standard protocols of the BFP.

Chief Inspector Publio Doctora Ploteña, fire marshal of BFP-Bacolod, in an interview with ABS-CBN, said it is important for parents and guardians to check the temporary shelter of their children.

Ploteña said it is also important for owners and caretakers of the dormitories to ensure the compliance of fire safety guidelines to prevent any untoward incidents.

The BFP will conduct another inspection with the help of other personnel from fire sub-stations in the city when classes start on June 4 for public schools. (GYM/SunStar Bacolod)
