Animal Hub probe team to submit report on June 15

NEGROS Occidental Acting Provincial Administrator Lucille Gelvolea said yesterday that the investigating panel tasked by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. to probe on the controversial Negros First Animal Hub is set to submit their report on June 15.

"That would be enough time for them to make the investigation and submit their report, or else you (media) may suspect what has been going on,” Gelvolea said.

Gelvolea said that the provincial government cannot touch the Animal Hub until the matter is resolved.

"We will have to wait for the final report of the investigation panel," she said.

The panel, she said, is composed of five or six members led by lawyer Mary Ann Lamis of the Provincial Legal Office.

Gelvolea also clarified that the Bids and Awards Committee which is also chaired by Lamis was supposed to conduct a pre-bid conference on the proposed P10 million Animal Hub.

"If the pre-bid (conference) pushed through, certainly BAC would also have discovered the structure being built there at the Panaad Park and Stadium," Gelvolea said.

She made the clarification as Eva Resoor, who claimed responsibility for the construction of the Animal Hub, admitted that they started the construction in December last year without any permission from the provincial government or from the end user which is the Provincial Veterinary Office.
