Police bare Panagbenga traffic scheme

THE Panagbenga Executive traffic committee assured that roads surrounding the central business district and parade routes in Baguio City will be clear of any vehicular traffic come Panagbenga season.

Traffic management branch chief Engelbert Soriano said the traffic division has come up with a scheme for the opening parade on February 1, grand street parade on February 27, and float parade on February 28.

The parade route will start at Upper Session Road Extension, Session Road Rotunda, Lower Session Road, Magsaysay Avenue, and then a U-turn in front of Baguio Center Mall back to Magsaysay Avenue, Harrison Road, Jose Abad Santos Drive and at the Athletic Bowl.

Based on the traffic advisory, Session road, Magsaysay Avenue, Harrison Road, Burnham Lake Drive, Chanum Street, Rizal Park Junction, the Abanao Street-Chuntog street junction will be closed for vehicle during the three parades.

The La Trinidad and Magsaysay Trunkline coming from Leonard Wood will unload passengers at the Slaughterhouse compound.

The Leonard Wood trunkline, including Pacdal and Mines View, will unload passengers at the Happy Glenn Loop only.

The Marcos Highway trunkline will take Legarda Road as the entry route, then right turn to Kisad Road extension towards Kisad Road, and then back to Marcos Highway.

South Drive and Loakan jeepneys, on the other hand, will unload passengers at the Military Cut-off circle, while Kennon Road and Hillside Military Cut-off jeepneys will unload passengers at the Harrison Road-Governor Pack Road intersection.

Naguilian jeepneys will unload passengers at Chuntog Street, and turn left towards Abanao, while Trancoville jeepenys will unload at the Slaughterhouse compound.

Aurora Hill jeepneys will unload passengers at Bonifacio Street Rotunda only.

All other public utility vehicles not affected by the rerouting will take their usual routes.

All vehicles affected with the rerouting will be on express system.

Car owners will have difficulty parking their cars as the following roads will be closed for parking: General Luna Road, Upper Mabini Street, Right side of Harrison road, Luneta Hill, Upper Session Road extension and Session Road, Lake Drive, Bonifacio Street, Kisad Road, Legarda Road, Magsaysay Avemue from Bonifacio Street to Harrison, and Abanao.
