PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte, despite suffering from chronic migraine, remains physically fit to work, Malacañang said on Thursday, June 7.
Speaking to Palace reporters, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. assured the public that the President's health condition is "good."
"This has been a recurring problem of the President. He is suffering from migraine from time to time. He says this is related to an earlier motorcycle accident he sufffered. But it comes and goes," Roque said.
"Otherwise, his health is good," he added.
In an interview early Wednesday, June 6, Duterte revealed that he vomited during his flight from Seoul to Manila because of migraine.
The 73-year-old President has repeatedly made public that he has several health problems.
In December 2016, Duterte divulged that he has Barrett's esophagus and Buerger's disease.
Barrett's esophagus is a precancerous condition of the esophagus, which is often associated with heartburn and gastro-esophageal reflux disease, while Buerger's disease is a rare disease that causes inflammation of small and medium-sized blood vessels.
This year, Duterte also complained of hyperhidrosis or excessive sweating, and spinal pain.
Roque allayed public's concerns, as he gave assurance that Duterte's health condition does not hinder him from fulfilling his duties as the country's cheif executive.
"It's the first time I saw him suffer from a migraine and I've gone on at least six or seven trips with him," he said. (SunStar Philippines)
