Politics blamed for newspaper publisher’s killing

PANABO CITY – Politics is believed to be behind the killing of Trends and Times weekly newspaper publisher, Dennis Denora, 67, according to the Panabo City Police Station.

Denora was shot and killed on the spot while on board his car along National Highway in front of the Century Bank, Panabo City Thursday afternoon, June 7.

The victim was with his driver, Mayonito Revira, who drove a white Hyundai Elantra with plate number ADP-4822 and who is still recuperating at Rivera Medical Center for a gunshot wound in his hand.

The National Union of Journalists (NUJP), which identified Denora as a journalist writing for Sun.Star Davao, condemned the incident.

However, Sun.Star Superbalita found out that Denora was not a regular employee of Sun.Star Davao but only contributed articles especially on Davao del Norte politics.

A parallel investigation is being undertaken by the recently established Task Force Dennis Denora of the Police Regional Office in Davao Region (PRO 11).
