Completion of Injection Point 2 for Baciwa moved to October

BACOLOD City Water District Assistant General Manager for Operations Jenelyn Gemora said Thursday, June 7, that the completion of Injection Point No. 2 project undertaken by Bacolod Bulk Water Inc. (BBWI) is moved to October this year.

Gemora said BBWI got a problem on the right of way, that's why the completion of the project has been delayed.

The company earlier promised the completion will be in May this year.

BBWI is a joint venture of Tubig Pilipinas, Mactan Rock Industries Inc., and TGV Builders. This is to establish a water facility that would induce more water supply to Bacolod

On March 2, 2016, BBWI entered into a P1.1-billion contract with Baciwa for 25 years of bulk water supply in the city, through Injection Points 1 and 2 in Barangays Granada and Murcia town, respectively.

Gemora said BBWI incurred a problem. "The company was able to settle the other portion of the project's right of way but they got a problem on the other portion which is still under negotiation."

She said BBWI has already a two-kilometer layout passing through the transition line of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines, that's why it could not be seen along the highway.

Meanwhile, Gemora said the power outage that hit the province on June 4 has also affected the water distribution of Baciwa.

It caused the breakdown of wells and pumping stations where it took two to three days to normalize the flow system of the affected wells and pumping stations, Gemora said. (TDE)
