CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) president and chief executive officer Vivencio Dizon will lead the 120th Independence Day rites at Pamintuan Mansion otherwise known as Museo ng Kasaysayang Panlipunan ng Pilipinas.

“The event starts with a unity parade from Holy Rosary Parish going to the Pamintuan Mansion. Participants shall consist of students, teachers, boy scouts, government employees, police personnel, firefighters, soldiers, and representatives from the private sector,” museum curator Bettina Arriola said.

This shall be followed by a flag raising and wreath laying at the historical marker of the mansion.

“After messages from Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan and Dizon, there will be a re-enactment of the first anniversary celebration of the Philippine Independence by talents from Uyat Artista,” Arriola added.

There will also be cultural performances from Sinukwan Kapampangan Center for the Arts and City College of Angeles Tinig Angeleño.

The Pamintuan Mansion was the site of the first and only public Independence Day celebration under the administration of former President Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1899 and served as a former branch of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.

In 2015, the Mansion reopened as a museum offering a panorama of past and present life and culture of ordinary Filipinos.

This year’s Independence Day celebration carries the theme “Pagbabagong Ipinaglaban, Alay sa Masaganang Kinabukasan.” (PIA-Central Luzon)
