SHOOTING guard Jeffrey Manday unleashed 21 of his 33 points in the second half to give Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias/Silver Dragon Construction another shot at the title with an 88-71 victory over the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos/Red House Taiwan Shabu Shabu on Saturday and force a Game 3 in the Negros Basketball Association President’s Cup at the Bacolod Tay Tung High School gym.
Red House Taiwan opened the first quarter with a 24-19 blast behind import Landry Zanjo’s 9 points and Japhet Claridad’s 8 points while Manday and Jerich Adorio connected 5 points each for Silver Dragon.
Manday and Joseph Yoro combined for 13 points with three triples for an 18-17 run in the second quarter to cut the lead, 41-37, at the break. Zanjo duplicated his performance with 8 points and his 17 total paled in comparison with his output in Game 1.
Silver Dragon took the upper hand, 60-51, going into the final period as Manday added 12 points on a good offensive rotation and defensive genius against Zanjo.
Adorio unable to control himself committed his second unsportsmanlike foul against Patrick Yulo at midcourt and was sent out of the game getting a suspension and a penalty as consequences.
The ejection of Adorio did not affect Silver Dragon’s domination in the fourth period as Cameroonian import Junior Essakadualla powered himself with 14 points as Manday connected 9 markers for a 28-12 run at crunch time.
Backstopping Manday is Essakadualla with 22 points aside from helping Boy Soliva stop Zanjo from going to his sweet spot. Billy Rojo added 11 markers and was superb in the backcourt for CSAV.
Zanjo’s monstrous 49-point performance in Game 1 vanished as he was held to 22 points. Claridad has 16 points, Ritcher Santillan with 11 and Yulo with 10 points.
