P450K lost in fire

FIRE gutted a two-story residential/boarding house and a tire shop at corner Jacinto and Aurora Quezon Streets in Barangay 32-D, Davao City Tuesday, June 12.

Damage was estimated at P450,000. No casualties were reported.

Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Ramil Gillado, chief of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Davao City Investigation and Intelligence Section, said the fire started at about 5:05 a.m. Tuesday.

Responders included Bangoy, Central, SIR fire trucks, 911 fire auxiliary rescue SRU and emergency, Filipino Chinese volunteer, and Davao Volunteer Fire Brigade.

The ground floor of the structure was used as mercantile tire shop/supply while the second floor was utilized as residential occupied by three families and two renters.

The blaze quickly consumed the structure, which was made of light materials.

Vicente Marcial, owner of the property, said the fire originated at the ceiling of the tire shop due to an electrical short circuit. It was declared fire out at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday.
