P300,000 reward for info on journalist’s killers

CASH amounting to P300,000 will be awarded to those who can provide information on the killers of journalist Dennis Wilfredo Denora in Panabo City, Davao de Norte.

Police Senior Superintendent Alan Manibog, provincial director of Davao Del Norte, said in a press forum Wednesday, June 13, that based on the information provided by the police chief in Panabo City, Panabo City Mayor James Gamao pledged to give a bounty of P100,000 for the immediate identification and arrest of the assailant.

An additional P200,000 will come from the friends of Denora.

Denora was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at around 1:10 p.m. last June 7 along the National Highway in Barangay New Pandan, Panabo City.

Denora was at the front seat of his white Hyundai Elantra driven by Mayonito A. Revira when he was shot to the head. Revira sustained two gunshot wounds in the right hand.

Manibog said they have been receiving information through their hotline regarding the case but they were still validating the veracity of the reports.

Earlier, a Special Investigation Task Group (SITG), called Task Force Denora, was created to solve the case which is composed of deputy regional director for Operations (DRDO) as SITG supervisor: provincial director as commander; Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) assistant commander; and PIO spokesman.

Other members are the Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (PCLO), Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch (PIDMB), Provincial Legal Officer and case investigator.

Manibog said they are also coordinating with the Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFOMS) during the investigation.

They were collecting possible evidence such as the closed circuit television (CCTV) footage. They have not established the motive yet, but were looking at all angles.

They were also waiting for the result of the forensic investigation on the mobile phone of the victim.

“Ang focus namin dito is the identity of the suspect based on the evidences siguro once na mahuli ang suspect siya ang makapag-revail who is behind such shooting incident,” Manibog said.
