A FORMER member of the provincial intelligence office was shot dead around 8 p.m. Wednesday, minutes after getting out from a fitness gym in Alegria, Cebu.
Police Officer 3 Jonathan Yaun Tilos, 36, a resident of Barangay Tisa, Labangon, Cebu City, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds on June 13.
Investigation showed the gunman used an automatic rifle.
Tilos was an operative of Cebu Provincial Police Office-Provincial Intelligence Branch (PIB) before he was transferred to Ginatilan in 2017.
In 2015, Tilos and other 26 PIB operatives, then under the leadership of Superintendent Rodolfo Albotra, received an award from the Cebu Provincial Government for their anti-illegal drugs operations.
He was reportedly on duty at Ginatilan Police Station when the incident happened.
He went to the gym for his regular exercise around 5 p.m. The gym is located in Sitio Malbog, Barangay Poblacion in Alegria, an hour away from Ginatilan.
Initial report from the Alegria police said Tilos had an argument with an unknown person while on his way to the gym.
After his workout, the suspect shot Tilos several times outside the gym.
The gunman fled in a black vehicle.
A team from Alegria Police Station found Tilos sprawled in his own blood near his vehicle, a red Toyota Hilux. He was brought to a hospital in Alegria, but was declared dead. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
