A POLICE officer was gunned down after attending a hearing at the National Police Commission (Napolcom) office in Makati City on Thursday, June 14.
Police Officer 2 Teejay Valdez, who was assigned at the Marikina City Police Station, was shot three times in the back of his head by a lone gunman clad in a black jacket at around 3 p.m. Thursday.
Southern Police District director Tomas Apolinario said Valdez was boarding his vehicle at the parking lot of the Napolcom building when he was slain.
"As a result, victim sustained gunshot wound in his head that caused his instantaneous death," said Apolinario.
He said Valdez attended a hearing before the Napolcom for charges of grave misconduct in relation to a shooting incident with his police companion when he was still assigned at the Eastwood Police Station in 2016.
Police are consolidating all CCTV (closed circuit television) footages, witnesses and other evidence to identify the gunman. (SunStar Philippines)
