(UPDATED) - President Rodrigo Duterte has given members of urban group Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (Kadamay) until Friday noon, June 15, to leave the housing project in Rodriguez, Rizal.
"Umalis kayo (Leave) or I will order the SAF (Special Action Force) to go in. Pagka lumaban kayo at namatay kayo, problema ninyo yan," Duterte said in a speech before Calabarzon's newly-elected village chairmen.
(If you resist and you get killed, that is your problem.)
Duterte said he has ordered the police to stop the illegal takeover of the housing units in Rizal and, if necessary, kill to implement the law.
"Ako nagwa-warning ha. Sabi ko sa pulis, kunin ninyo uli. Kung gusto ninyo ng away, sabihin ko sa pulis, bigyan nyo ng away. Kung magkamatayan, huwag kayong mauna. Pero kung kailangang pumatay kayo para i-implement ang legal na regulasyon, gawin ninyo," Duterte said.
(I am warning you. I told the police to take back the housing units. If they want trouble, the police should give them trouble. Should there be killings, make sure you would not be the first to fall. If you (police) need to kill to implement the regulations, do it.)
Duterte said he does not care if people die.
"Kung mamatayan, 5, 6, 7 - wala akong pakialam," he said.
"Sinabi ko na sa inyo, nung inagaw ninyo ang mga bahay ng mga pulis (in Bulacan), sabi ko na lang sa mga pulis at militar, huwag na ninyong pakialaman. Ibigay na lang natin, tutal pareho 'yang Pilipino, pobre rin. But I hoped it will not be repeated," the President added.
(When you took over the housing units intended for the police, I told the police and military to leave you be and just give the housing units because you are also Filipinos and poor.)
He gave Kadamay members until 12 noon of Friday, June 15, to leave the housing project in Rizal.
"Pagka may namatay, before the nation, sabihin ko: Well, that is my order. Mahirap 'yang i-hostage mo ako, takutin mo ako,"
(If somebody dies, I say before the nation: Well, that is my order. You cannot hold me hostage. You cannot threaten me.
He chided the group for demanding housing from him when they burn his image and effigy during rallies.
"Gawin ninyo yan, pero huwag kayong humingi ng tulong sa akin. Kasi may pulis ako, may militar ako. Ang sabi ko, maintain law and order in this country. Kung madisgrasya kayo, problema na ninyo yan," he said.
(You do that, but do not ask for help from me. Because I have the police, I have the military. I told them to maintain law and order in this country. If you get killed, that is your problem.)
Earlier Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque Jr. said the President already ordered the police to ensure that the Kadamay would not be able to occupy the idle units.
He said Kadamay's takeover of some housing units in Bulacan last year should be the "first and last."
Duterte's directive came after members of Kadamay trooped to a housing project in Rodriguez, Rizal. They were immediately driven away by responding police officers. (SunStar Philippines)
