XTERRA pro Joseph Miller of Motor Ace Racing Team looks to cap his campaign in the 2018 Asia-Pacific Tour with a strong finish in the final leg, the Xterra Albay 2018 set in Legazpi tomorrow.

Xterra Albay will require a 1.5-kilometer open water swim, 28K mountainbike ride and 8K trail run in the shadows of iconic Mayon Volcano. The race is the last of four Xterra legs this year after New Zealand, Danao City in Cebu, and Tahiti.

“I hope to make it to the Top 10 ranking in the Asia-Pacific Tour,” said Miller, who has 45 season points and is currently in the Top 15 in the men’s pro ranking.

Leaders in the men’s ranking are Sam Osborne of New Zealand with 232 season points followed by Ben Allen from Australia with 187 and Kieran McPherson, also from New Zealand, with 143.

Xterra Albay is only the second race for Miller in the Xterra Asia-Pacific Tour following the Xterra Asia-Pacific Championship held in Danao City last April, where he finished in eighth place and garnered 45 points.

“I am currently at No.15 but I’m confident to make it to the Top 10 after this leg. I’ll just hope that there will be no mechanical problem during the race,” said the Cebu-based Miller, who hails from Sarangani Province.

For Miller to reach his target, he needs to surpass five Xterra Warriors.

The athletes in the 10th to 14th ranks, whom Miller needs to overtake, are Maxim Chane (61) of France, Will Ross (53) from USA, Hayden Wilde (51) from New Zealand, Jacky Boisset (49) from France, and Lewis Ryan (47) from New Zealand. (RSC)
