NOT even the pouring rain stopped more than a thousand concert-goers witness Original Pinoy Music (OPM) icons Joey G and Nina grace the center stage of the LausGroup Event Center on Friday, June 15, for their sold-out concert dubbed the “Perfect Soul”.
The one-night-only musical event took loyal fans and audiences coming from all over Pampanga and Central Luzon, to a trip down memory lane, as the celebrated duo perform their timeless hits that catapulted their success.
Known as ‘Asia’s Diamond Soul Siren,’ Nina delighted guests with her heartwarming renditions of “Loving You,” “Someday,” “I Love You Goodbye,” and “Love Moves in Mysterious Ways”.
She also gave tribute to Barry Manilow when she sang the American legend’s 1981 hit “Somewhere Down The Road,” one of her unique cover that is part of her 2007 album entitled “Nina-Featuring the Hits of Barry Manilow”.
She then introduced her co-headliner, Joey G, who showed his unchanging flair for showmanship as they perform “Foolish Heart” as well as several Pinoy medleys like “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang”. The former Side A front-liner also treated fans to some of his band’s well-loved songs.
In an interview with SunStar Pampanga, the two equally accomplished artists shared that they both love coming back to Pampanga.
“Ever since I started my career, this province has always been one of my favorite place to perform, primarily because of the Kapampangans who are always wonderful and welcoming,” Nina said.
“And now that you have this world-class event center, parang gusto ko na lagi dito. This is my second time to perform here at the LausGroup Event Center and I’m still amazed by the venue,” she amusingly added.
Joey G, for his part, noted that he is privileged to perform at the emerging concert destination, for the first time.
“This is actually a good thing for the people of Pampanga. Upon seeing this place, I was in awe because it’s really big. I am really happy to be here and see my Kapampangan fans again,” he relayed.
He then disclosed that to celebrate his 30th year in the music industry, he will release a single this year.
“Still honored, grateful, and blessed that after three long decades, I still have the chance to continue sharing and making music. So, as part of my 30th anniversary, I will be coming up with a new song. Abangan niyo ha,” he shared.
The “Perfect Soul" featuring Joey G. and Nina was presented by the Countryside Entertainment Inc., RW 95.1 FM and the LausAutoGroup, in partnership with Converge Fiber X, Royce Hotel and Casino, BGC Concrete Batching Plant, Clark International Airport Corporation, Redd Manor, and CLTV36.
