2 crime group members die in clash

TWO crime syndicate members were killed,, while two others were captured in a clash with government forces in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Tuesday, June 19.

Chief Superintendent Edwin De Ocampo, deputy regional director for administration, identified the slain suspects as Ali Lumiguis and Ato Lumiguis, both members of Isnain Lumigis crime syndicate.

De Ocampo said the group was involved in atrocities that included contract killing known as gun-for-hire and robbery hold-ups.

Those captured were identified as Attang Sabuddin and Hatta Orak. Both have pending criminal cases in court, added De Ocampo.

He said the clash ensued around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, when the joint police and military forces launched a strike operations against the Lumigis crime group in Sitio Sapah Bayol, Barangay Malambuhangin, Siocon, Zamboanga del Norte.

Three other members of the group have fled, leaving behind the remains of their two slain companions, including those two who were captured.

The troops recovered three caliber .45 pistols and caliber .22 revolver with ammunition from the suspects, De Ocampo said. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
