Parish museum now open for non-religious exhibits

SANTA RITA -- The management of Museo Ning Santa Rita de Cascia is now opening its main gallery for exhibits with art and culture themes.

Museum director Annabelle Abinales said the parish through Rev. Fr. Rolando Lopez had instructed that the doors of the facility be opened for non-religious events.

Abinales said this runs in support of the museum’s mission of being a venue for religious, art and cultural events. The museum is extending its staff and resources to help local artists and cultural advocates in terms of venue, promotion and media mileage.

The museum is open for hosting of free art exhibits and events highlighting local culture and traditions. Interested parties are encouraged to discuss their exhibit proposals with the Santa Rita de Cascia Parish office for further details.

The Museo ning Parokya nang Santa Rita de Cascia is located at the second floor of the old convent building attached to the old parish church. The building, which was restored in 1994, now houses the historical artifacts, contemporary and antique images, as well as old furnishings of the church and its old rectory.

The facility also offers a tour of the church, which houses the first -class relic of Saint Rita. Tourists may also visit the recently restored bell tower of the parish, which is accessible through the museum.

Abinales said they are planning on hosting once again guided tours for walk-in visitors and setting up processional images on display. The facility was able to attract more that 7,000 tourists and pilgrims from January to May of this year.
