TAXI hailing app Micab officially signed a contract with telecommunications company PLDT SME Nation to upgrade the taxi experience of Filipinos with the lowest price possible.

The advent of online transportation booking apps have left taxi operators and drivers behind.

With the shared advocacy of Micab and PLDT to diminish the burden of passengers as well as to enlighten taxi drivers, Micab officially signed a contract with PLDT to be their internet provider to ensure a taxi experience that is modern, clean, safe and comfortable with drivers who are friendly, kind, and courteous.

“We don’t offer booking fees to passengers, so as much as possible, we asked for the lowest price. It was only PLDT SME (Nation) that accommodated our request,” Eddie Ybañez, CEO of Micab, said.

The free WiFi offered by PLDT inside the cab allows users and drivers to communicate. To ensure their safety, users can also pay online using an e-wallet and rate the drivers.

Micab is available in Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Manila, Baguio and Iloilo and has 190,000 users nationwide. They also partnered with Huawei who provided the tablets attached to the vehicles with Blackberry’s software to cater to the Micab App.

Ybañez shared that he is planning to expand his business through partnerships with taxi operators in other regions to build up the public’s trust in taxicabs again by providing safe, easy and affordable rides. (Paula Joy Mendoza, CNU Intern)
