KARATEDO and judo featuring the competition-ready Davao youngsters take the centerstage events in February while healthy fun run caps the activities of the New Year's first month of January 2010.
Event maker Dan Espejo, sports advocate Jimmy Javier and Juday-looking Julianne Cosning talked it out in a sports forum at the Royal Mandaya Hotel presenting the Metro Lifestyle Fun Run for Sunday, January 31.
Every P250 registration fee that you donate, Metro L adds up to it another P50 to ensure the buildup of funds to buy foods for chosen beneficiaries, says Javier, gym manager.
Rommel Tan and Tancontian, the judo champs, were also dishing out their respective schedule of events in Karatedo and Judo to compliment with the fun run.
The fun run is being planned out for the aerobics specialist MetroLifestyle around town at the end of the first month of January 2010. Metro's place at F. Torres St. will be the jumpstart to J.P. Laurel right to Quirino, San
Pedro Extension, Fr. Selga, Circumferential Road down to Jacinto Extension and back.
For Davao's karatedo participants, this year starts with the greatest challenge in Manila on February 26 to 28. Before that will be the showcase of the All-Mindanao Karatedo competition of 15 teams compose of 100
individuals. On the same Weekend at the NCR, our Davao basketball and volleyball teams will try their luck and talents in the Ched national competition.
According to Sensei Tan, with Davao having established a name in at least six age group national titles, the encounter at the Mall of Asia presents the most challenge as Japanense Karatedos will be there aside from
those in South Korea and Asia.
Nationwide, Davao has proven its worth early in such age groupings as 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11 years old.
We are grateful to our trainers for that with Coach Rommel Tan at the helm and the rest of Davao's karatedo senseis who have in one way or the other have become part of the overall efforts.
In Judo, the next event is an affair to remember since the date is just a day ahead of February 14.
This will be named after one of Davao's most consistent names in Judo artistry, the 3rd Tancontian Judo Tournament, February 13, 2010 at the South Citimall of Gaisano, Ilustre St.
I said artistry because most Judo enthusiasts see this form of martial arts with a lot of self- esteemed and grace when played by children.
