Gacad: Happy birthday Caleb Avery Marquis

TODAY marks the 6th birthday of my first Apo, Caleb Avery Marquis (ang haba ng pangalan, and hirap isulat...)

Eight days after Mama Puring passed on, the legend of Eyeb was born!

Caleb is a Hebrew name meaning “a dog; faithful.” It is borne in the Bible by a leader of the Israelites, one of those sent by Moses to scout out the land in the second year after the Exodus. He and Joshua were the only people over the age of twenty to enter the Promised Land.

In some traditions, Caleb's being a “dog” symbolizes his devotion to God. An alternate Hebrew meaning offered for Caleb is “faithful, devotion, whole-hearted, bold, and brave.”

Avery is a given name, which was originally an English surname that was itself derived from an Old French version of the name Alfred or the Ancient Germanic name Alberich. The meaning of the name is derived from the Old English words aelf, meaning elf, and raed, meaning counsel. Avery means “Ruler of the Elves (Anglo-Saxon).”

The name Marquis is a French baby name. In French, the meaning of the name Marquis is: A title name ranking below duke and above earl. People with this name have a deep inner desire for order and physical creativity, and want to be involved in conventional, safe activities. People with this name are competent, practical, and often obtain great power and wealth.

They tend to be successful in business and commercial affairs, and are able to achieve great material dreams. Because they often focus so strongly on business and achievement, they may neglect their private lives and relationships.

Faithful + Counsel + a Ranking below Duke and above Earl = KULIT!

Happiest of birthdays to my first grandson, Caleb. You bring so much joy to the family and we are so blessed to have you in our lives. Watching you grow up, I can see a very smart and devoted leader who impacts other people's lives by your irrepressible smile that paints a ray of sunshine all over your face, capturing so much happiness with that beautiful grin, and helps melt away the pressures of the day with your captivating presence and personality.

No wonder Toto is so addicted to you - you're a title above Earl and you can tell him what to do, haha.

I love you so much beyond words and I pray that God will continue to shower you with more nerf guns (and bullets), good health and that amiable presence that only you can bring - instantly becoming a blessing to every one you meet!
