Public safety college opens 2 police enhance courses

THE Philippine Public Safety College-Regional Training Center (PPSC-RTC)-Zamboanga Peninsula on Monday formally opened two courses for career advancement of police officers of Zamboanga City and for other areas in the region.

This came in response to a fervent request from Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar.

Jointly opened were the Public Safety Officers Senior Executive Course (PSOSEC) and the Public Safety Officers Advance Course (PSOAC).

“This is a dream true,” Salazar declared as she recounted how she personally lobbied for the opening of the courses having seen the difficulties encountered by Zamboanga police officers who deserve professional and career advancement but cannot avail of such due to numerous challenges foremost of which the location or training center venue.

The PSOSEC is designed to develop the participant's competence level and character to prepare him to assume command and staff positions in a provincial, regional and national level.

On the other hand, the PSOAC aims to develop the student's ability to assume as chiefs of Police of higher city police station or as staff officers in a district, provincial or regional level to include parallel designations in the National Support Units (NSUs) with the corresponding duties and responsibilities.

Aside from Salazar, those who graced the opening of the two courses were PPSC President Ricardo de Leon; Directorate for Human Resource Doctrine and Development (DHRDD) Director Cedric Train; National Police College Deputy Director Romeo Ruel Berango; and, Region Training Center Director Marlon Quimno.
