CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo has expressed gratitude to the Laus family for its continued support to her administration.

The President conveyed her gratitude to Clark Development Corporation (CDC) Director Ma. Theresa A. Laus, wife of Levy P. Laus, chairman and founder of the Laus Group, during a social meeting in Malacañang last Thursday.

Ms. Laus led a delegation from Pampanga, composed mostly of media practitioners, to attend the wake of the late Press Secretary Cerge Remonde at the Palace.

Remonde was a wedding sponsor of the Laus’ youngest son, Levy Adrian.

“They (members of the Laus family) have been helping me since 2001,” Arroyo told the delegation during a private meeting with her that lasted for more than an hour.

The President later toured the group around the Palace and had an extended photo session with them in the presidential room used by her late father, President Diosdado Macapagal and the late President Ferdinand Marcos.

Arroyo even showed the presidential table used by his late father.

The President appointed Mr. Laus as director of the Bases Conversion Development Authority in 2001. He resigned in 2003 to attend to business concerns. She later appointed him as President/CEO of the Clark Development Corp in 2006. He served until 2008.

Mrs. Laus was appointed CDC director shortly after his husband’s tenure ended. (JCS)
