Another complainant surfaces vs rape-slay suspect

THE man accused of raping and killing a 16-year-old girl faces another complaint as another teenager has stepped forward to accuse him of raping her in May 2018.

Facing charges for violation of the Republic Act 8353, otherwise known as The Anti-Rape Law with homicide is James Barrete Narte, 35, from Barangay Bago Gallera.

He was brought to the prosecution office on Monday, June 25, for inquest proceedings.

Reports obtained from Davao City Police Office (DCPO) revealed that the other rape victim went to the Talomo Police Station at around 7 p.m. on Monday, and positively identified Narte as the one who raped her midnight of May 19.

The girl was accompanied by her elder sister to formally file her complaint against Narte before the Women and Children’s Desk Section of the Talomo Police. The girl said Narte raped her somewhere in Sasa at knife point and left her unconscious.

The victim heard that a rape suspect was arrested in the homicide case in Bago Gallera in Talomo District through a radio report and so she and her sister went to see if he is the same man.

She identified the suspect in a police lineup. She said that Narte left her for dead because she lost consciousness.

Personnel of the Sasa Police Station are preparing the complaint against Narte.

The suspect was nabbed at 12:10 a.m. Saturday in a manhunt operation conducted by members of the Talomo Police Station two hours after the cadaver of the victim was found on Libby Road in Bago Gallera.
