Human trafficking, child abuse raps for mom, 22

HUMAN trafficking and child abuse charges were filed against the 22-year-old woman who was arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting three minors.

Operatives of the Women and Children’s Protection Center (WCPC) 7 accused the suspected online trafficker of violating Republic Act (RA) 9208, or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, and RA 9775, or the Anti-Child Pornography Act, in relation to RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

Prosecutor Al Rey Ouano filed the case in court after the accused chose not to undergo a preliminary investigation, opting to face the case in court during trial.

The police’s Anti-Cybercrime Group (ACG) 7 arrested the accused and rescued the three minors from online sexual exploitation in Barangay Poblacion, Cordova last Saturday.

Social workers took custody of three other children for assessment to determine if they were also victimized.

Who has the kids?

Of the three rescued victims, two are 12 years old and one is 15, said Chief Insp. Leo Dofiles, chief of the ACG 7.

Two are the accused’s children.

Her other children, aged two and five, together with another minor are now in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 for assessment as they were present during the operation.

Dofiles said that the woman told authorities that she offered her neighbors, who are minors, to foreigners on the internet for P3,000.

She allegedly offered to do whatever foreigners wanted and promised to “do it all” with the minor victims.

The entrapment was conducted with the Special Weapons and Tactics, DSWD 7, and the International Justice Mission. (GMD)
