PRIVATE Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) national champion Jamie Hannah Canja Agaloos brought home two more gold medals from the recently concluded Philippine National Poomsae Taekwondo event at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum in Manila.

Agaloos competed against 61 participants nationwide for the top 16 rank in the selection round. The top 16 athletes then competed against each other in a single-elimination round leaving only eight winners to move on the next round.

In the quarterfinal round, a show-off between the eight winners left only four medalists: Iloilo, Baguio, National Capital Region (NCR) and Bacolod.

Iloilo and Baguio got the bronze medals after the semi-finals, leaving NCR and Bacolod to vie for the gold medal.

At the final round, four judges out of five scored in favor of Agaloos giving her the national champion title for the Cadet (ages 14 to 16) Poomsae Taekwondo event.

Agalos, 13, is an incoming second year high school student of Tangub Christian Academy in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental.

Last year, she was selected as 2017 National Palarong Pambansa Most Valuable Player (MVP) in Elementary Girls Taekwondo after she bagged two national gold medals: one for the sparring (Kyorugi) event and then another one for the forms (Poomsae) event.

Agaloos, a member of the Philippine Taekwondo National Team, has been a consistent gold medalist in Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports Cultural Educational Association (Nopsscea), Palarong Panlalawigan and Regional Palaro. (PR)
