BACOLOD-based HYBrain Development Corporation is one of the 10 companies representing the Philippines at the ongoing ConnecTech Asia 2018 in Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Center in Singapore.

Leading them is the country's Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

The three-day activity until today, June 28, is considered as the biggest Information Technology (IT) conference in the Asia Pacific.

John Dave Dueñas, president and chief executive officer of HYBrain Development Corporation, said yesterday, June 27, ConnecTech Asia is where technology, ideas, and business converge.

Encompassing CommunicAsia, BroadcastAsia, and the new event NXTAsia, Dueñas said it covers the entire spectrum of communication, broadcast, and enterprise technology and services reflecting the pulse of Asia today.

"This is the first time that a Bacolod homegrown team is joining the Philippine delegation at the biggest Asia Pacific IT Conference," he told SunStar Bacolod in a phone interview.

Dueñas added that "more than pride, it validates that our skills and the products that we have developed can compete in the Asean region."

The conference, mainly through exhibitions, is providing participants the avenue to check the current trends in the region.

Dueñas, who is also the current president of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology (BNEFIT), said the innovations and digital products available in the region can validate the product that the local industry player has developed.

"We can now be more confident that we can compete internationally," he said, adding that it's a pride for HYBrain having young programmers, all are from Bacolod City.

Duenas added that "from a Tier II city, we are putting Bacolod on the map of software development."
