Amoguis sisters ready to plunge into action

DAVAO City's decorated swimming sisters Lora Micah and Liaa Margarette are ready to compete in the 42nd Southeast Asia (SEA) Age Group Swimming Championships slated July 6 to 8 at the Trace College Los Baños in Laguna.

The Laguna-bound siblings are the roses among the thorns of Davao City's six-member delegation.

Lora and Liaa will fly to Laguna today with four other Dabawenyos including bemedaled Matthieu Adrien Tao, Ivo Nikolai Enot and the Yarra siblings, John Martin and Rizbon Martin.

"I will not promise anything because it will hurt when you don't achieve it but I'm more focused on breaking my record than to win a gold medal. Both winning gold medal and breaking my record is better though," 12-year-old said during the Davao Sportswriters Association Forum held at The Annex of SM City Davao.

Both Lora and Liaa belong to the girls 11-13 years old age group.

Lora will compete in the 50m backstroke and 200m individual medley (IM) while 11-year-old Liaa is entered in 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, 800m freestyle and 400m IM.

The sisters have been training for the swimfest. They were in Tagum City for six days last week to train at the Olympic-sized Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex but they also train with coach Haroon Cali at the Holiday Gym and Spa.

The Amoguis sisters also do yoga.
