Partners Club-1st Doc Eric bowling tourney kicks off

TWELVE teams for the first inter-barangay category and 11 others will vie for the open category Partners Club-1st Doc Eric bowling tournament when it officially opens on Friday at the Bacolod Super Bowling Lanes at the Golden Fields Commercial Complex.

Partners Club and Talisay City Mayor Doctor Eric Saratan will lead the official launch of the tournament.

"This tournament is not only to foster camaraderie and sportsmanship among Talisaynons but is a way of raising funds for the various projects of the civic club like medical missions, bloodletting and gift giving," said Partners Club founding President Nilo Boy Lizares Jr.

Lizares said: "The current set of officers of the civic club decided to conduct this year's bowling tournament in partnership with the City Government of Talisay under Mayor Eric Saratan to encourage barangay based team to participate compared to previous tournaments where only those coming from different offices in private and public sectors are joining."

Saratan, meanwhile, lauded the efforts of the Partners Club of the city "for facilitating sports activities, at the same time raise funds for the various community service projects that will benefit Talisaynons."

The mayor-doctor added: "I am aware that majority of good duck pin bowlers playing in other tournaments in Bacolod resides in Talisay and it is only and proper that a bowling tournament like the Partners Club initiated event be held."

Participating teams and tourney officials and facilitators also joined the pre-launch caravan from Talisay City to the tourney venue, where the games would be played every Saturday.
