Assumption hosts ALPS national convention

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Association of Librarians in the Public Sector (ALPS) held the national convention of public librarians at the University of the Assumption (UA) library and audio visual room last June 27 until June 29.

Roilingel Calilung, former president, now the treasurer of the association, recommended the library of the university to the board members.

With the theme “Beyond the Horizon: The Future of Public Libraries in the Philippines”, they exhibited to Assumptionists good books as the university library continues to expand and upgrade its collection.

Some of the exhibitors who supported the advocacy were Phoenix, International Book Royale, Globe Publication, Megatext Philippines, Elenia Handicrafts, Think and Learn, Britannica Online, and Molave Development Foundation.

As the university celebrates its 55th anniversary, the library as well celebrates its 55th year and the convention is one of the 55 library activities in celebration of the founding anniversary. It is also a prelude to the renaming of the university library to Most Rev. Emilio Cinense Library this September during the 107th birthday of the founder.

“Let us be partners and let us dream big for the university library,” Calilung said as he invited the Assumptionists and the whole UA community to visit the university library.

“Let's work together to bring the university library closer to every member of UA community,” he added. (Rainne Angelique D. Mancanes/UA intern)
