Mercado: EdPam–Tarzan Part 2

AS OF this period, world class rated City Mayor Ed Pamintuan is statistically the underdog in an expected contest between him and 1st District Representative Jonjon Lazatin.

Jonjon has been there and done that. The Wonder Boy has yet to improve and fortify alliances in the Mabalacat and Magalang areas.

Jonjon’s vote getting prowess was proven by ousting incumbent Congressman Guiao from his perch. The renowned basketball coach, certain of his reelection, did not know what him till midnight of the elections when reports of Lazatin overwhelming returns spread like onrushing lahar in the district.

Pamintuan virtually declared war on the Lazatin dynasty by announcing his intent to run for Congress. If one should beware of a monkey playing with matches, the more he should be afraid of the lion king playing with money.

The Lazatin partriarch, Kong Tarzan, during his 84th natal anniversary rallied hundreds of his known Jungle campaign veterans and perennial hangers-on to join him in what could be his last political battle.

That could be his crusade to come back as city mayor entwined with the reelection drive of son Congressman Jonjon. If the Kong runs for city mayor, as is his open ambition and Jonjon fights against EdPam as the logical end, the old Lazatin would violate the classic rule on engagement: Don’t go to war in two fronts.

It will surprise residents that the Kong has adopted the triangular offense, the congressman and City Councilor Pogi at the low post area and the father at the center lane.

The gods of war proved their wisdom when Hitler decided to invade Russia while fighting the Allied Forces at the same time. Hitler’s debacle was the consequence of spreading his military resources in two fronts.

EdPam the wonder boy of old may find it quite difficult going to war against the elder Lazatin who is reported awash with cash to last two election campaigns.

At his late years he has no fear or scruple in investing his enormous resources to win two wars in different battle fronts. It is at this hour when the Kong is most dangerous. Honest Ed turns deadly when he is rated the underdog, “dakila naman.”
