AS ONE of the highlights of the 51st founding anniversary of the province of Davao Oriental, an agri- trade fair and exhibit dubbed as Sikat Pinoy Inalima 2018 was organized at Honey’s Hotel, Matiao in Mati City.
The fair and exhibit features 12 participating exhibitors coming from the 10 municipalities, one city, and one coordinating agency (Department of Science and Technology) wherein each booth displayed their different products in forms of fresh and processed foods, wearables and home-style furniture, organic agriculture products, ornamental plants, among others.
Apart from the 12 official exhibitors, nearly 20 other exhibitors mounted booths outside the hotel as an extended event for Inalima. Outside exhibitors showcase the province's rich bounty and agricultural products.
One exhibitor is MJB Jars and Vases.
This enterprise, which has been operating for 15 years, is producing export quality fiber products made of fiber stones such as fiber pots, vases, chairs, and furnitures, among others. It has branches in Davao and Cebu (Megastone).
MJB Jars and Vases manager Ruby B. Arado in an interview with SunStar Davao said though their main business is exportation, they decided to participate agri-trade fairs and exhibits to support the local economy nd as well cater the loca customers.
"Actually, these are for export but we thought that Filipinos should also experience these products, so we decided to sell it here in Inalima," she said.
MJB Jars and Vases products are usually exported to United States of America where demand for their products is high.
The enterprise sold signicant number of products within the Inalima 2018 period. The export quality fiber products are sold starting at P299 per piece for flower pots to P47,000 per set of outdoor dining table.
"What's good with our products is that it can be repaired once cracked,"she said adding most of its customers in the fair and exhibit came from nearby towns in the province.
