Police send home 100 ‘istambays’

MORE than a hundred persons were warned and sent to their homes by the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) as they implemented Oplan Tambay Sita.

For drinking in public places, 37 were given a stern warning and asked to go home, nine for violating the smoking ban, and 18 for going around half-naked.

Twenty minors were rescued and sent home for curfew violations and 23 for violating the anti-littering ordinance.

Six persons were arrested by the Mambaling police for reportedly violating City Ordinance (CO) 2108 against illegal dispatching.

The six were allegedly caught dispatching on N. Bacalso Ave., Barangay Basak San Nicolas.

Police officers apprehended them after they were caught calling commuters to ride a jeepney and collecting money from the drivers.

The CCPO advised the public to take note of the following laws and ordinances to avoid possible arrest: CO 1929 or the ordinance against drinking in prohibited/public places, Executive Order 26, the smoking ban, CO 2108 or the Anti-dispatching ordinance, CO 1786 or the curfew implementation for minors, CO 801 or the use of roller skates and similar devices, CO 1940 on the anti-noise pollution ordinance, CO 1361, which punishes those who urinate, spit, litter, defecate in public places, and ordinances against getting involved in riots and gang wars.
