Hino Motors PH launches greener, Euro 4-ready fleet

Hino Motors Philippines, as part of its shift to greener engines, unveiled their newest lineup of Euro 4-compliant vehicles in Mandaue City’s Oakridge Pavilion.

“These vehicles show us exactly what the future of our land transportation will be. I look forward to have some of these vehicles as franchise units that will operate on our roads and move people reliably, efficiently and safely,” said Director Ahmed Cuizon of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7.

He encouraged other manufacturers “to follow Hino’s very good example by coming up with their own versions of safe, reliable, and environment-friendly vehicles just like these.”

Partner-dealers from around the Visayas joined the LTFRB 7 chief and Franklin Ong of Pasajero Motors Corp., the leading dealer of Hino Motors in Mandaue and Cebu City, during the celebration.

The new lineup includes the Cerito bus, Grandeza bus, a refrigerated van, dump truck, and a modern Hino jeepney.

Cleaner

Euro 4 refers to a set of emission standards first adopted in Europe but which are now globally accepted. Vehicles with Euro 4-compliant engines use fuel with lower levels of sulfur and benzene, which mean cleaner emissions. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources began pushing for Euro 4 adoption in 2016 and, after Jan. 1, 2018, said it would no longer allow the registration of vehicles that fail to meet Euro 4 standards.

Cuizon confirmed that Hino Motors is fully compliant with requirements set in the Public Utility Jeepney Modernization Program.

“It is our commitment to Filipinos to produce only the best quality products. Upgraded to more efficient and reliable engine, the new Euro-4 vehicles deliver the highest performance without causing harm to the environment. Hino is here to make sure that transporting people, goods and services from one place to another will be more efficient and hassle-free for everyone, that is why we are looking forward in growing Hino network here in the Visayas so we can deliver total support,” said Hiroshi Aoki, president of Hino Motors Philippines, in his opening remarks.

Vicente Mills, chairman of Hino Philippines, said that Hino does more than provide engines.

“We want to present ourselves as partners in your business to provide you with the (customized) body design classification that you need to make sure it will be profitable,” Mills added. (Neil Jean Navarro, SJIT intern)
