THE Rotary Club of Bacolod-East (RCBE) led by its President Philip Araneta donated one wheelchair to the Pediatric Department of Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.
The turnover was attended by chief of hospital Dr. Julius Drilon and Dr. Mary Johnson Cabaluna, who heads the Pediatric Department of the regional hospital.
Araneta was joined by immediate past President Carla Cañet, past presidents Sonya Verdeflor, Elsie Jolingan and Dr. Benjamin Souribio.
Drilon said the said wheelchair will be used by pedia patients, adding it will serve more children who are admitted to the regional hospital.
One kidney patient who was first to use the wheelchair was five-year-old Mary Joy Bedia, who has an acute glomerulonephritis or an infection in her kidney.
The girl was used to eating dried fish and noodles, thus, it damaged her kidney. But for now, she is recuperating.
Last weekend, RCBE also donated one adult wheelchair to Nelia Cahilig, 93, of Progreso Village in Vista Alegre, Bacolod City.
A month ago, RCBE also donated a wheelchair to Henrietta Panesales of Barangay Cubay, La Carlota City who is also a stroke patient.
These wheelchairs came from the Rotary International, which is one of the projects of past district governor Jude Doctora. (CNC)
