Gacad: W.O.W.

HERE'S a shout out to Doc Gratchy Canave who facilitated a one-day stress management workshop for members of the MGB-CAR. The activity was very relaxing, to say the least, and provided an opportunity for together-time and “family-time.”

She handled the sessions very candidly and her honesty radiated through the hall like a magic wand that somehow transformed the participants to believers that, indeed, changing for the better and responding differently to the same situations, will bring about a positive impact, not only to the organization, but more importantly to the person/s involved.

Thank you Doc G and I do hope that you will touch more lives with your simple, yet very effective, method. Here's hoping that positive changes will truly come. Readers who might be interested in Doc G's services can try to get in touch with her by searching Canave Enterprises (Inkblots) or at 09175066043 (inkblotsbaguio@yahoo.com). She is highly recommended!

W.O.W. is an acronym for Wisdom, Opportunity and Worthwhile action. The learnings, and unlearnings, from the seminar give us a very timely opportunity to come up with worthwhile actions that would lessen stressors in the workplace, at home, and the environment. Here are a few quotes on stress that may help us move forward and improve ourselves and our relationships:

“One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was from a horse master. He told me to go slow to go fast. I think that applies to everything in life. We live as though there aren't enough hours in the day but if we do each thing calmly and carefully we will get it done quicker and with much less stress.” ~ Viggo Mortensen

“It's not stress that kills us, it is our reaction to it.” ~ Hans Selye

“It is not a daily increase, but a daily decrease. Hack away at the inessentials.” ~ Bruce Lee

“The greatest weapon against stress is our ability to choose one thought over another.” ~ William James

“There is more to life than increasing its speed.” ~Mahatma Ghandi

“Our anxiety does not come from thinking about the future, but from wanting to control it.” ~ Kahlil Gibran

“Resistance creates suffering. Stress happens when your mind resists what is. The only problem in your life is your mind's resistance to life as it unfolds.” ~ Dan Millman

“Stress is caused by being 'here' but wanting to be 'there.” ~ Eckhart Tolle

“Don't stress the could haves. If it should have, it would have.” ~ Unknown

“Slow down and everything you are chasing will come around and catch you.” ~ John De Paola

“You can't always control what goes on outside, but you can always control what goes on inside.” ~ Wayne Dyer

“It's not the load that breaks you, it's the way you carry it.” ~ Lou Holtz
