High-value target in Silay yields P240K in 'shabu'

A MEMBER of the Divinagracia drug group in Silay City, Negros Occidental was arrested after he yielded a total of P240,000 worth of dangerous drugs in a drug bust at Barangay Guinhalaran Tuesday, July 3.

Collared was Levi Ganoyo, 43, of Barangay Mambulac. He is a level three high-value target in Silay City and in the province.

Police recovered from him five sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 25 grams, the P18,000 marked money, coin purse, a list of alleged transactions, driver's license, and P85 in cash.

Superintendent Noel Polines, city police chief, said Ganoyo led the drug group after Jose Alberto Pinaga, a right-hand of Silay City's top drug suspect Michael Divinagracia, was previously arrested with his common-law wife Maebelle Belmonte at Dumangas port on January 28 with a recovery of estimated P18 million worth of suspected shabu.

Polines said Ganoyo is a trusted member of the drug group, who replaced Pinaga when the latter was arrested.

Polines said Ganoyo gets his supply of drugs from somebody in Bacolod City.

"We have been monitoring him for quite some time," he added.

Ganoyo is detained at the police station and will be facing sale and illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

Polines said they immediately conduct operations once their monitoring and validation against a drug personality turns out positive.

Meanwhile, Polines said Divinagracia was also previously arrested but the latter was able to post bail.

Polines said five out of the 11 members of Divinagracia drug group was already neutralized.

Divinagracia's father and two siblings were also previously arrested in two separate drug raids in Barangay Mambulac last March, with a recovery of P175,000 worth of illegal drugs.
