MMFF announces 4 entries

THE Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) committee has announced the first four entries of the festival at the end of the year.

The MMFF regulars will still be around: Vic Sotto, Coco Martin and Vice Ganda. This time, Sotto and Martin are teaming up in one movie: “Popo en Jack: The Pulisincredibles.”

Unlike most other film festivals, MMFF chooses entries even before they are filmed. As in the case of “Popo en Jack,” in an interview published on ABS-CBN News, Martin admitted he was trying to court Maine Mendoza to join his film with Sotto. The deal is still under negotiation.

Vice Ganda’s entry is titled “Fantastica: The Princess, The Prince and the Perya.” It will also star Maris Racal, Loisa Andalio and Maymay Entrata.

Vice Ganda’s “It’s Showtime” co-host Anne Curtis also has a movie in contention: “Aurora.”

Lastly, Cebuana actress Kim Chiu will star in the film “Girl in the Orange Dress” with Jessy Mendiola, Jericho Rosales and Tom Rodriguez.

The committee chose the entries based on submitted scripts.

Sotto, Martin and Vice Ganda have been competing against each other in the MMFF for a few years now. Last year, their entries were “Meant to Beh,” “Ang Panday” and “Gandarrapiddo: The Revenger Squad,” respectively.
