LITERALLY soaring to cloud nine is the Philippine Airlines (PAL) family as the airline was certified four-star—the only one in the country—by Skytrax, the international air transport rating organization. PAL now joins the list of 40 world-class airlines around the globe. Congratulations!
To celebrate this historic event, PAL hosted a press conference in Davao City at the Marco Polo Hotel.
In proud attendance were PAL VIPs president-chief operating officer Jaime Bautista, president-PAL Express Bonifacio U. Sam; senior vice-president airline operations Ismael Gozon and moderator; Josen Perez de Tagle-vice president corporate communications.
The double celebration also included the launch of PAL’s collaboration with the Canadian airline Bombardier, ably represented by top honchos Rob Burdekin, Ross McKeand, Amman Kocher and Francois Cognard.
Keeping tab of the hotel segment was our friend, general manager Dottie Wurgler-Cronin, and the PAL-Davao angels, to ensure a perfect event.
Next on the agenda were brief speeches and informative videos from both airlines. And following was the most exciting part of all: Viewing the Bombardier Q400 which was on majestic, static display at the Davao airport.
We all boarded the compact, but comfy aircraft, with sufficient leg room and head allowance. What ambience! (No, we didn’t take off!)
A grand Gala Night with superb dinner and entertainment was the dazzling culmination to this historic event. Toasts, PAL! And many more flying years!
