Group holds tree planting, feeding program in Floridablanca

NUMEROUS Rotary clubs across Cluster 4A under District 3790, led by District Governor Pancracio Nisce, over the weekend held a simultaneous kick-off activity to signify the start of the Rotary Year 2018 to 2019.

The annual event, this year hosted by the Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca, was highlighted by tree planting and feeding program in Barangay Pabanlag, Floridablanca.

Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca President Jeffrey Lintag shared that the significant endeavor benefited over 200 children of the community. Meanwhile, a total of 235 (200 non-fruit bearing and 35 fruit bearing) seedlings were planted during the tree planting activity.

Aside from the organization, other Rotary clubs under Cluster 4A who joined the activity include the Rotary Club of Villa de Bacolor, Rotary Club of Dolores, Rotary Club of Central Pampanga, Rotary Club of Eastern Pampanga, Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando, Rotary Club of Pampanga Cosmopolitan, Rotary Club of San Fernando Cabalen, Rotary Club of Tree plantingSan Fernando (P), Rotary Club of Southern (P), and the Rotary Club of Western Pampanga Inc.

Also in attendance were Assistant Governor for Cluster 4A Mario Ocampo and Cluster Secretary Past President Romeo Santos. The event was supported by the Floridablanca Water District, Primewater Floridablanca, and the local government of Barangay Pabanlag.

Lintag noted that their whole organization remains committed to give back to the community through charitable, sustainable, and valuable initiatives aligned with the core values of the Rotary.

“Our mission is to give service to mankind by focusing on the six areas that will help improve lives, promote peace, and end polio forever,” he said.

He then disclosed that that the Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca has slated several programs and projects this Rotary year.

“We are going to conduct a series of programs and projects including periodic feeding programs for school children, construction of additional or improvement of classrooms, donation of tables, chairs and IT equipment to schools, maternal and child care initiatives, Walk for Peace, and participation to other activities such as bloodletting and medical missions,” he noted.

“Also included in our line-up of activities are the “Bike Fun Ride and Zumba for a Cause,” where part of the proceeds will go to the Rotary’s “End-polio campaign,” he added.

He relayed that the said efforts are anchored on the Rotary’s six areas of focus namely: Peace and Conflict Resolution; Disease Prevention and treatment; Water and Sanitation; Maternal and Child Health; Basic Education and Literacy; and Economic and Community Development.
