AMID posts circulating on social media, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) has not received actual reports on fake P10,000-bill in the Visayas, including Negros Occidental.

BSP Cebu Regional Office Director Leonides Sumbi, who was in Bacolod City yesterday, JUly 5, said none of all the branches in the Visayas has experienced somebody turning over a fake P10,000 banknote.

The regional office in Cebu covers Western, Central, and Eastern Visayas.

"The P10,000-bill is surely a counterfeit money. We only have six banknotes and the highest is P1,000," Sumbi added.

Other denominations released earlier by the BSP are P500, P200, P100, P50 and P20.

Photos of the P10,000 New Generation Currency (NGC) banknote spread on social media recently. It looks and has the same in color as the P1,000-bill.

Sumbi said they are emphasizing that if one is given a note, all he has to do is only "touch" the "Republika ng Pilipinas" label.

This is very basic and almost all banknotes in other countries have embossed style or rough quality unlike of a bond paper, Sumbi said.

"In terms of counterfeiting, we have more reports in Cebu than here because of many establishments and more money circulation there," she noted.

Meanwhile, misprinting like having "faceless" bills is possible, Sumbi said, adding that "those with the genuine material will be replaced immediately."
