LEADING Asian hospitality company, Dusit International, will be opening eight more properties in the Philippines in the next 24 months, an executive of the company said.

Dusit Thani Hotels and Resorts chief operating officer Boon Kwee Lim told the media during a round table discussion at the Lubi Plantation Resort on June 29, 2018 that these hotels and resorts are in Davao, Cebu, Fort Bonifacio, and San Juan, La Union.

"In Davao we have three, another three in Cebu, and one each for Fort Bonifacio and La Union," he said.

In Davao, Dusit Thani will be operating the Lubi Plantation Resort, Dusit Thani Residence and the dusitD2. The three are being developed by Torre Lorenzo. Lim said to target that all three will be opened by the end of this year.

In Cebu, the hotel chain is set to open Dusit Thani Mactan Cebu Resort, Dusit Princess, and dusitD2.

In Fort Bonifacio, they will be opening up a dusitD2, which will be associated to the Dusit Hospitality and Management College. Lastly, the one in San Juan, La Union will be the dusitD2 Waves.

"We also have other projects in the pipeline... right now we are working on another four," Lim said. However, he said he is still unable to disclose what these four other projects are and where it will be located.

He said while the hotel brand has been in the country for years now, it is just now they are able to expand their operations as they have additional resources.

Lim said the company developed its human resources to be able to assign individuals that will be able to manage their properties.

"We were a little bit too late because we were not looking at expanding becuase the resources were not there and it was not the right time. Right now we have the resources, so we are expanding," he said.

Dusit International entered the Philippines in 1995 after acquiring Hotel Nikko Manila, which became Dusit Thani Manila in April 2008

The company's expansion is not only evident in the Philippines but also in Asia Pacific. For example, in China, where they have five operating hotels, they are set to launch five more by this year and have another 20 hotels and resorts in the pipeline.

Dusit International also opened this year its first property in Vietnam under the Dusit Princess brand. In the last quarter of this year, they will be opening dusitD2 in Thimpu, Bhutan and Dusit Thani Doha in Qatar.

At present the hospitality company is expanding its operations in Australia, China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Tunisia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Vietnam.

Dusit International currently operates 29 properties in Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, United States, China, Maldives, Philippines, India, Egypt and Kenya.
