ILLEGAL possession of firearms charges have been filed against a security agency owner and a soldier.

Charged were Mussolini Lidasan, brother-in-law of Energy Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan, and Sergeant Alberto Antesoda Duhig after prosecutor Marte Melchor Velasco found probable cause to hold them for court trial based on the accounts of PO2 Harold Delima of the Talomo Police station.

The case stemmed from a raid conducted by the Regional Intelligence Division, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 Special Task Group Against Private Armed Groups, Talomo police on the security agency office at Eagle Street in GSIS Heights, Matina last January 21.

The law enforcers had a search warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Executive Judge Isaac Robillo and were accompanied by barangay officials.

The search yielded 19 12-gauge shotgun; 24 .38 revolvers; two .45 pistol; one .380 caliber pistol; one M16 rifles; one M61 fragmentation grenade; one 15-inch baton sword; and more than 300 rounds of 5.56 rounds of ammunition.

Several of the guns, however, were covered with documents although the security agency permit is said to expire.

Velasco recommended a bailbond of P80,000 for each of the respondent's temporary liberty. (RMH)
