TYPHOON Maria may enter the Philippine Area of Responsilibity (PAR) Monday morning, July 9, according to Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The weather bureau added that landfall in any part of the country remains less likely.
In its 11 a.m. advisory on Sunday, July 8, the eye of typhoon Maria was located 1,820 kilometers (km) east of Northern Luzon and is seen moving towards east of Basco, Batanes.
Hence, 'Maria' may enhance the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) which will bring monsoon rains over Luzon and Panay Island until Tuesday, July 10.
Occasional rains is expected over Metro Manila, western sections of CALABARZON and Central Luzon, and the rest of Western Visayas.
Pagasa advised the public to take appropriate measures against possible flooding and landslides due to heavy rains. (CLC/SunStar Philippines)
