CEBU Technical Vocational Training and Assessment Academy, Inc. (VocTech) and its partners recently launched its senior high school program.
In partnership with Total OA Systems Co. (TOA) from Japan, the enrollees in this year’s senior high school program will be granted free tuition, free uniform and free school kit.
Globe Telecom, Sky Cable, 8990 Holdings Cebu, ABCED Systems Corp. and VGM Computers are also sponsoring the program.
With the theme “Penetrating the fast growing world of rechnology with VocTech,” the academy now offers the Technical-Vocational-Livelihood (TVL) track, specifically in information and communication technology (ICT) and industrial arts strands with specializations in computer system servicing (CSS), CCTV installation, telecom OSP (Fiber Optics) installation, premise cabling, computer programming, animation, electrical installation maintenance (EIM), and solar PV installation.
“It is very good that you choose VocTech. We are also in the industry of IT solutions. In fact, we have with us our programmers, (and) I know someday, you would like to become like them,”said Engr. Andres Ralota, the president of VocTech Academy.
He also said that those who want to join their team of programmers do not have to complete a four-year course since most of them are just graduates of vocational courses in computer programming.
“Why choose four years when you can actually be employable in just two years,” he added.
The Japanese partners from Total OA Systems Co. are also employing Filipino programmers in Japan, which is why they choose to support VocTech. They have also established a long-term working relationship with Engr. Ralota.
“In Japan, the workforce has been decreasing every year, so we want to invite excellent IT engineers and developers to work in Japan. Filipinos are very good in English, and Japanese companies are also gearing for globalization, so IT skills plus English skills is very appealing to us,” TOA senior vice president Kenji Osawa said.
With the launch of its senior high school program, Voctech hopes to cater to as many students interested in the program as there are since other schools do not offer the same programs that they have due to the lack of equipment.
Enrolment is still ongoing and so far, around 80 students have enrolled.
Voctech’s TVL curricula are also aligned and accredited with TESDA, giving students a chance to earn National Certificates (NC) in their chosen specializations. (Vanessa de Gracia, CNU Intern)
