ACCOLADES continue to pour Stephen Loman.

Almost a month after retaining his Brave Combat Federation bantamweight title, Loman were recently feted by His Excellency Alfonso Ver, Ambassador of the Philippines to Bahrain.

“I join the Filipinos in Bahrain in rejoicing and celebrating the victory of Stephen Loman. He won his championship belt in Bahrain and thus we consider him our own champion. We are now doubly glad that he was able to defend his title and even if the fight was not in Bahrain, we were all rallying and hoping that he wins,” said Ver.

Loman successfully defended his bantamweight title after earning a decision win against Frans Mlambo in the main event of Brave Combat Federation 13: Europe Evolution in Belfast, Northern Ireland Saturday evening.

Loman fought back after a near knock out by Mlambo in the first round who was poised to finish the Baguio City fighter in their rematch two years in the making.

Loman’s victory marks his 10th win against two loses and his fight straight since yielding to Rex de Lara in January 2016.

Among his noted victory include highly touted Mark Abelardo, Mlambo and a first round technical knockout against Gurdashan Mangat in November last year that earned him the vacant bantamweight title of the Bahrain based MMA promotions.

“We hope he will continue to defend his title and inspire other Filipino fighters to become Brave champions,” added Ver.

The Bachelor of Science in Criminology graduate of the University of the Cordilleras is considered as the youngest title holder in Brave CF and the only Filipino champion to make a historic title defense in the United Kingdom.

Baguio City earlier commended the mixed martial arts world champion for bringing honor not only to the country but also to Baguio City.

Councilor Arthur Allad-iw filed the proposed resolution lauding Loman.

“Loman gloriously defended and refused to give away his bantamweight title by defeating his opponent and won via unanimous decision during their rematch,” said the commendation. (Roderick Osis)
