THE Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station are still trying to identify the killers of a barangay councilor at Purok 1 in Barangay New Katipunan of the same town in Davao del Norte province on Saturday morning, July 7.
Police identified the victim as Jeramil Andoyo Dinolan, 38, a barangay councilor in San Jose, Santo Tomas and resident of Purok 3 in San Jose in Santo Tomas.
Report obtained from Police Regional Office (PRO) in Davao Region showed that the incident happened around 10:30 a.m. in front of the Four Square Gospel Church at Purok 1 in Barangay New Katipunan.
The incident was reported to the Santo Tomas Municipal Police Station at around 11 a.m.
Upon the arrival of the police at the crime scene, Dinolan was already rushed at Metropolitan Polymedic Community Hospital (MPCH) at Feeder Road for medical treatment. He did not make it alive.
Initial investigation revealed that prior to the incident, the victim was riding his single motorcycle from Barangay Kimamon on his way to home.
Upon reaching Purok 1 in New Katipunan, in front of the church, he was shot by unidentified gunmen hitting him on the breast portion of the body.
The policemen recovered one fired case cartridges of a caliber.45 pistol.
The cadaver of the victim was laid at Copreros Funeral Parlor along Feeder Road 3 in this municipality.
Police would have to determine yet the whereabouts of the killers and their motive in killing the councilor.
